Her Choice Clinic, located in Santa Ana, California, is a reproductive healthcare and abortion clinic. We are a community women’s clinic and abortion center that provides low cost, affordable reproductive health care for the women of Southern California. Our core value is one of respect, inclusiveness, and empathy. We are founded on the belief that all women deserve family planning services delivered to them with dignity, respect, compassion, affordability, without judgement, and that every person has the right to choose whether or not to continue a pregnancy. Our primary focus is to provide affordable and safe family planning options and make access to abortion clinics easy and confidential. Our goal is to improve access for family planning and termination options for pregnant women that desire them in a safe, supportive, sensitive, and compassionate manner.

Abortion Services Offered

For the patient that chooses pregnancy termination, we provide surgical Dilation and Curettage as well as the abortion pill (Ru-486, Mifeprex). California allows abortion through about 24 weeks into pregnancy. You have the right to get an abortion for any reason until approximately 6 months after you become pregnant. After that, if the pregnancy puts your health or life at risk you can still get an abortion.

Medication Abortion (Abortion Pill)

If a pregnancy is early enough in its first trimester, then an alternative to surgical D and C is the abortion pill (Ru-486, Mifepristone, Mifeprex). The abortion pill (also known as a medication abortion) is offered up to 11 weeks and 0 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. If you are under 11 weeks then the abortion pill is superior to surgery due to its convenience and high safety margin. This option is available up to 11 weeks. It is a safe and effective way of ending an early pregnancy.

Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only. If you choose this method, you will have to stay in California for 7 days until your follow up visit to ensure the pill was effective.

Surgical Abortion

This option is available up to 17 weeks. Many of our patients who are less than 13 weeks pregnant choose to have a surgical abortion procedure that allows them to fly in and fly out the same day. There is no requirement that you remain in California following your surgical abortion procedure.

There are pros and cons to the pill method compared to the surgical procedure, and one is not always better than the other. Choosing one over the other needs to be tailored to the individual’s needs and expectations. Our physician will address your needs and concerns during the visit. We provide information regarding the risks and benefits of each option and allow the patient to decide what is the best choice for her in a non-judgemental way. We will provide the information, so she can make an informed decision.

Additional Reproductive Health Services

Her Choice Women’s Clinic offers birth control, pregnancy testing, family planning, general gynecology care for non-pregnant patients, providing cervical cancer screening, sonography and ultrasonography, treatment of menstrual abnormalities. Travel and Accommodation

We have multiple locations within minutes of several major California airports. Many patients choose to fly into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) due to the cheaper airfares and multiple non-stop flight options. We have 4 offices (East Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Downey and Long Beach) all less than 20 miles from the airport. Ontario International Airport is only a 20-minute drive from our San Bernardino office. Uber / Lyft is widely available. Please plan for your entire visit time to be 3-4 hours. When you check-in at your appointment, please let us know if you have a same day flight to catch and we will do our very best to expedite your visit to ensure you make your scheduled departure time.

If you are concerned about your ability to pay, we are proud to also offer financial assistance for patients traveling from out of state. California Legal Requirements and Patient Rights

Abortion is legal in California, both for teens and adults. California does not require parental notification. You are welcome to walk in any time the Health Center is open to make an appointment or see if there is a same day appointment available. If you have the time to wait, we will make every effort to fit you in the same day. If we can’t see you, we will give you the first priority appointment available.
