Comprehensive Reproductive Healthcare and Regional Access in the Midwest
At Midwest Reproductive Health Care, we are committed to providing safe, compassionate, and accessible reproductive healthcare. As the only abortion clinic in our region, we are devoted to offering comprehensive care, support, and advocacy, ensuring that everyone has the freedom to make their own informed choices about their reproductive health. We believe that everyone deserves the right to exercise their full bodily autonomy, and that comprehensive reproductive healthcare is a human right that should be accessible to all.
Midwest Reproductive Health Care Mission and Services
Strategically chosen in an accessible area, close to Iowa and Wisconsin, this clinic offers expansive family planning services not only for people living in Illinois, but for abortion traveler seekers coming from out of state. We aim to be a resource center for the community, for travelers, and have partnered with many local organizations to ensure a whole patient approach. We work through grant making and fundraising to support access to family planning services, research, advocacy, and policy development, with a focus on reproductive health services and education, and empowering individuals and communities to make informed choices about their reproductive lives.
Patient Support and Experience
The dedication to patient care is reflected in the experiences of those who visit. Patients have shared: “From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in a safe place. Everyone was kind, calm, and explained every step so I could breathe again.” Others noted: “Everything, the staff was so kind and caring. They answered all my questions and then some. They hold your hand and talk you through everything. Gave me all the information I needed and made me feel good and safe with my choice."
Planned Parenthood Service Consolidation in Missouri
Planned Parenthood will close 3 Missouri clinics, expand telehealth services. Three Planned Parenthood clinics in eastern and southern Missouri will shut their doors next month, though the organization’s leaders insist the moves will ultimately expand access to reproductive health care. As part of the consolidation effort, Planned Parenthood Great Rivers will be expanding telehealth services and hours at its remaining St. Louis clinics. No staff members are being laid off as part of the restructuring, Planned Parenthood said in a press release.
Richard Muniz, interim president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, said patient care can be transferred to other Planned Parenthood locations. He said the goal is to increase virtual care access and get patients in touch with providers sooner, and then into appointments more quickly. For Joplin patients, transportation will be provided to the Springfield clinic 75 miles away for those who need it. Planned Parenthood will also refer patients to the Pittsburg, Kansas, clinic about 30 miles away that opened earlier this year.

Midwest Reproductive Health Care is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that supports the Midwest region, and beyond. Location: 4236 Maray Drive Rockford, IL 61107. Hours of Service: Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm. Same day appointments are available. We are members of the National Abortion Federation (2024) and Abortion Care Network (2024).
Regarding the Missouri consolidation, Muniz said the decision on which clinics to close was data-driven. The organization’s leadership says the moves will ensure long-term sustainability in the face of repeated attacks from politicians on sexual and reproductive health care. Planned Parenthood Great Rivers serves about 9,000 patients a year on Medicaid and has continued seeing patients thanks to donor support.
