Professional Standards and Career Opportunities for Abortion Care and Reproductive Health Providers
The National Abortion Federation (NAF) is the professional association of abortion providers. Our more than 450 facility members include private and non-profit clinics, Planned Parenthood affiliates, women’s health centers, physicians’ offices, hospitals, and virtual providers in the U.S. and Canada. NAF’s mission is to unite, represent, serve, and support abortion providers in delivering patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Programs and Professional Support from NAF
We currently offer a range of programs aimed at supporting the clinical, security, and educational capacities of our members. Through our programs, NAF provides: 24/7 security support and emergency assistance to our members; continuing medical education in abortion care; technical assistance and training; and quality assurance and improvement services. In addition to ongoing education and training programs for abortion providers, we release evidence-based Clinical Policy Guidelines for Abortion Care (CPGs) every two years, which help abortion providers offer the highest standard of care to their patients.
Furthermore, we oversee the NAF Hotline, the largest national, toll-free, multi-lingual hotline for abortion referrals and financial assistance in the U.S. and Canada. For more than 40 years, we have provided callers with accurate information, confidential consultation, options counseling, and referrals to providers of quality abortion care. Receiving more than 100,000 calls annually, the Hotline is free and offers services to everyone, regardless of patients’ individual situation.
Careers and Volunteering at Planned Parenthood
At Planned Parenthood, our most valuable assets are the amazing employees and volunteers who provide expert, compassionate care and make a real difference in people’s lives every single day. Planned Parenthood is a leader in reproductive health research and technology. We’re looking for passionate, dedicated people who are eager to make positive contributions to their community and to our mission. You can join us in the meaningful work we do every day — either by directly providing sexual and reproductive health and education services at one of our more than 600 affiliate health centers, or by helping to ensure that everyone has access to those services at one of our administrative offices.
Professional Benefits and Student Loan Repayment
If you are completing your training to become a physician, physician assistant, midwife or nurse, Planned Parenthood may be able to subsidize your student loan repayment. If you are willing to commit to working at a Planned Parenthood health center for up to three years, you may be eligible for up to $150,000 of student loan repayment.
