Abortion Pill (Medication Abortion)
A Preferred Women’s Health Centers have offered no surgery abortion options for our patients for over 14 years! In 2000, we became one of the first medical facilities in the United States to provide abortion services with the use of medications only. Given the convenience and privacy of this treatment, medical abortions using Mifepristone “the Abortion Pill” for terminating early pregnancies continues to be the preferred option for many of our patients. The abortion pill (also known as a medication abortion) is offered up to 6 weeks and 0 days after the first day of your last menstrual period. It is a safe and effective way of ending an early pregnancy. If your last period was more than 6 weeks and 0 days ago, we can still help. Call us for a referral list of health care providers in your area that offer other abortion services. Abortion pill (medication abortion) services are available by appointment only. In the unlikely event that you are still pregnant, you may need another dose of medicine or to have an in-clinic abortion to end the pregnancy. We’ll also give you after-care instructions and a phone number you can call with any questions or concerns.
In-Office Procedures
A Preferred Women’s Health Center performs In-Office abortions by using the vacuum aspiration method, the most common method of abortion available today. The procedure involves the gradual widening of the cervix followed by the insertion of a thin flexible tube attached to a vacuum aspirator, which gently removes the uterine contents.
