Your step-by-step guide to affording abortion care: To ensure a quick, seamless experience, please click the links below and read each section in its entirety.
The goal of this process is simple:
- Reach out to a DC Metro area clinic and get an appointment on the books.
- Call the National Abortion Federation or Planned Parenthood to see if you’re eligible for financial assistance.
- Call us at 202-452-7464 and leave us a message or fill out our online intake form.
- You can reach us Monday-Thursday.
- We’ll pay the clinic directly.
- Just show up to your appointment, and get the care you need.
STEP ONE: Make an Appointment at a DC Area Clinic
STEP ONE Make an appointment at a DC area clinic. The first call you make isn’t to DCAF or a national organization— it’s to a health care provider. The earlier you can make your appointment, the better, as the cost of your procedure rises each week you’re pregnant. DCAF only offers financial assistance to those living in DC or traveling to the area—specifically, at the clinics listed below. Please make your appointment at one of the following clinics prior to requesting DCAF funding.
Approved Clinics in the DC Metro Region:
- Dupont Clinic
- Washington Hospital Center
- Planned Parenthood Carol Whitehill Moses Center
- Partners in Abortion Care
- CARE Clinic
- Carafem Clinic in Friendship Heights

- Planned Parenthood Metro Washington Suitland Location

Disclaimer: The DC Abortion Fund is not a medical provider. We fund clinics within the DC metro region that are accredited by the National Abortion Federation. This list does not constitute an endorsement.
STEP TWO: Seek Financial Assistance Through a National Organization
STEP TWO Seek financial assistance through a national organization. At DCAF, our case managers are well-trained and passionate about offering financial assistance to those who need it. That said, we ask that you call Planned Parenthood (if you made your appointment at Planned Parenthood) or the National Abortion Federation Hotline (for all other appointments). Why? Both organizations offer financial assistance for callers across the country. If eligible, they will lower your costs. After that, give us a call and we will help close your remaining financial gap.
National Abortion Federation (NAF) Hotline
Have an appointment at an independent clinic ? CALL THE NATIONAL ABORTION FEDERATION Call the National Abortion Federation Hotline at 800-772-9100. If you qualify, they could pay for up to 30% of of the cost of your care. Pro tip: The hotline is open Monday– 8AM–7PM, and Saturday–Sunday 8AM–4PM. Calling after 5PM or on the weekends may result in shorter wait times.
Planned Parenthood Assistance
Have an appointment at Planned Parenthood ? CALL PLANNED PARENTHOOD If you made your appointment at Planned Parenthood, call 1-800-230-PLAN to see if you qualify for financial assistance. If you qualify, the organization will pay for a portion of your procedure plus travel costs (if traveling more than 60 miles). While you can make an appointment online, online services are not available for funding. Pro tip: Always ask! When calling, explicitly state you’re seeking financial assistance.
STEP THREE: Contact DCAF Directly
Step three Now, give us a call or fill out our online form. After making your appointment and contacting a national organization, you’re ready to get in touch with DCAF. We provide financial assistance with zero eligibility requirements, meaning we welcome those at any income level, at any gestational age, experiencing any life circumstance. Our only ask? You must receive care in the DC Metro Area ( see step one ).
Live inside dc? If you live in DC, leave us a voicemail on our warmline at 202-452-7464 or fill out our secure online form. If calling, please provide:
