How the At-Home Abortion Service Works
Abortion-at-home does not involve seeing a doctor in person, which some people prefer because it is private and convenient. The process follows these steps:
- Click ‘I Need an Abortion’ to answer questions about your pregnancy. Then, check your email for confirmation and next steps.
- A partner doctor reviews your information to see that at-home abortion is safe for you. You’ll hear back within 24 hours with a prescription for abortion pills.
- Once approved, you’ll collect your medicines and pay for them at a pharmacy near you. We’ll direct you to an abortion-friendly pharmacy.
- The doctor provides instructions on how to safely manage your abortion-at-home.
Clinic Services and In-Person Care
If you’re more than 10 weeks, or if you prefer in-person care, please visit an abortion clinic for professional medical assistance. Free State Women’s Clinic is a registered private abortion clinic in Bloemfontein committed to providing the highest quality of obstetrical and gynaecological care. Our professional expertise will provide private and confidential one-on-one treatment and will support you every step of the way.
Depending on the gestation (stage of the pregnancy), we have two services available:
- The Free State Medical Process: often called the abortion pill.
- The Free State Procedure: a minor, same day treatment.
