The Association seeks to increase awareness of the reproductive and pregnancy needs in our society along with the resources necessary to address these needs. Our website features more than 700 articles about the full spectrum of reproductive wellness. Sources for these articles include recently published medical research; physician and association white papers; and medical textbooks and sites. While we provide information and education, it is not to be consider as/or used for medical diagnoses. Please consult your physician/healthcare provider to receive individual medical care.
Regarding advocacy, the Association seeks to support women and families by lobbying the legislature, businesses, and insurance providers to promote pregnancy and family health issues. The Association believes that research is the foundation to significant reproductive discoveries.
Understanding Teen Pregnancy in the United States
Teen Pregnancy is a teenaged or underage female (ages 13-19) being pregnant. Teen Pregnancy is a Serious Issue in the United States. The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate of any developed country. Despite the recently declining teen pregnancy rates, 3 in 10 teen girls in the US will get pregnant at least once before age 20.
Dealing with pregnancy as a teenager can be frightening for new parents, as more responsibility is placed upon them and they have to take “adult” roles. Your life shifts direction and opportunities are lost. Additionally, the bones and muscles of teenagers are not ready for the physical stresses of pregnancy.
