The CARE in CARE Colorado stands for Clinics for Abortion and Reproductive Excellence, which is what we strive for every single day. We are dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive abortion services to people traveling to Care Colorado from Moab, Utah and near Fort Morgan, Colorado. At CARE Clinic Colorado, we follow a patient-first philosophy and put your health first and foremost in our medical decisions, both physical health and mental health.
Abortion Services and Procedural Options
Our clinic offers a range of options to ensure that you receive the care you need, when you need it. We analyze all of our patients risk factors before ever recommending a procedure to know which will be the safest and most effective for you.
Medical Abortion (The Abortion Pill)
For those seeking a non-surgical option, Care Colorado offers patients the abortion pill, also known as medication abortion. Available both in-clinic and by mail (state dependent), this option is available for pregnancies up to 11.6 weeks. This method involves taking a series of two pills over the course of 1-3 days that will terminate the pregnancy in a non-invasive way. The abortion pill is a safe and effective method for terminating a pregnancy, offering the privacy and convenience of at-home use.
Surgical Abortion Services
If you are further along in your pregnancy, Care Colorado provides abortion care up to 23.6 weeks. Our services include:
- Vacuum Aspiration: Offered up to 18.6 weeks of pregnancy, this is a safe and effective in-clinic procedure performed by experienced medical professionals. It involves using gentle suction to remove the pregnancy tissue and is a quick procedure with minimal recovery time.
- Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): For pregnancies between 18.6 and 23.6 weeks, we provide a combination of dilation and evacuation with vacuum aspiration to ensure safe and comprehensive care. This procedure consists of dilation of the cervix followed by the removal of pregnancy with a combination of using instruments and vacuum aspiration.
Procedures done after 18.6 weeks can be done over a course of 1-2 consecutive clinic visits. Our team will provide comprehensive aftercare and support throughout your visit.

Wait Times and System Demand in Colorado
Patients looking for an abortion appointment in Colorado should expect longer wait times due to surging demand. Waits are hovering around two weeks for most clinics — up from just seven days earlier this year. Out-of-state patient demand is the main driver behind the jump now that Roe has been reversed. This strain is likely to grow even more if other western states begin enforcing bans, as is widely expected. Colorado has a higher average wait time due to its broad legal protections and proximity to a large number of states that have restricted the procedure.
Because longer wait times also mean that more abortions may happen at later stages of gestation, we are working to increase our first trimester capacity and get people in sooner. Appointment requests have jumped 83 percent over the past month at mobile medication abortion clinics in Colorado, serving patients coming from Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma and other nearby states.
