VLPP provides medication abortion (abortion pill) at all 4 of its health centers across the state up to 11 weeks gestation. Furthermore, Virginia League for Planned Parenthood is proud to now offer medication abortion (abortion pills) via telehealth, which means you can now access the care you need, when and where you need it.
To qualify for medication abortion via telehealth, patients must meet the following criteria:
- Patients must be 10 weeks pregnant or less.
- Patients must have a Virginia address.
- Patients must be physically in Virginia at the time of their telehealth appointment.
Procedural Abortion
Procedural abortions are sometimes called surgical abortions, though they're generally an in-office procedure, not surgery. Procedural abortions are quick and extremely effective. VLPP offers procedural abortions up to 21 weeks and 6 days gestation.

Legal Requirements for Minors
Parental consent for abortion is required in the state of Virginia for people under the age of 18. For those under 18, Virginia requires that one parent, grandparent, or adult sibling with whom a person lives with give permission for an abortion. Separately, the law requires that the parent, grandparent, or adult sibling with whom a person lives with be told of a person's decision 24 hours before the abortion takes place. However, a judge can excuse someone from both of these requirements. If you are under the age of 18 and need help talking with your parents or seeking judicial bypass, we can help.
