Specialized Women’s Oncology
The University of Kansas Health System has expanded its reach with a new hospital at 107th Street and Nall Avenue that will focus on women's oncology. Dr. Jamie Wagner, breast surgery division chief, says the facility fulfills a long-held dream. The three-story structure boasts an ambulatory clinic with a focus on women’s cancer services. It will also offer gynecological oncology services, a first for the health system in the Johnson and Jackson county areas. This is a great entry point for patients now to come and see the entire team of specialists that they need to give them the integrated treatment plan that is tailored to their specific cancer.
Furthermore, the facility will offer genetic testing for mutations that could put patients at risk for specific types of cancers, including breast, ovarian, colorectal and gastric. For specialized care, Frederick R. Ueland, M.D. provides expertise in Gynecologic Oncology.
The LMH Health Women’s Center
The LMH Health Women’s Center encourages self-care and offers a collaborative approach to treatment, as well as flexibility and accessibility, to all women in need of health care. This multidisciplinary facility is focused solely on women’s wide-ranging health care needs. Services include breast health and mammography, ultrasounds, MRIs, gynecology, pelvic health, plastic surgery and general women’s health.
Convenience is key to our mission. Everything related to breast health is in the same area. If a woman has a concerning mammogram or ultrasound, most likely a consultation can be fitted into the schedule the same day. Additionally, the Advanced Maternal and Fetal Care Clinic provides high-risk pregnancy care, providing more than 400 patient appointments since its implementation.
