Maternal Healthcare: Policies, Advocacy, and Addressing Inequity
Welcome back to another AmbassadorTakeover with Kalani & Chandrima!
For our final post, we wanted to discuss #MaternalHealthcare, policies to address #BlackMaternalMortality, & advocacy work.
Access to Care and Healthcare Inequity
Access to healthcare plays an important role in addressing inequity. One of the primary barriers is that large portions of the U.S. are maternity care deserts (areas with no access to maternal care - see map on slide 3).
Primary Data Sources and Advocacy Bodies
The following organizations provide essential research and policy frameworks: Sources: KFF, March of Dimes, CDC, Black Maternal Health Caucus, NASHP, CMS.
