Expanding Reproductive Access in Brooklyn
The city is expanding medication abortion services in Brooklyn in the wake of recent clinic closures and the ongoing contraction of reproductive care nationally. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will offer free and low-cost abortions at its sexual health clinic in Fort Greene, the fourth city-run site to provide the service. This site also provides birth control, counseling, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
The Abortion Access Hub and Support Resources
The city’s Abortion Access Hub, a hotline that connects individuals with licensed abortion providers in the five boroughs, reached more than 8,500 in its first two years in operation. The expansion at the clinics primarily serves uninsured residents in high-poverty neighborhoods. We support your decisions, whatever they may be, and provide abortion support for male partners, families, and friends when someone you care about becomes pregnant unexpectedly.
