National Network of Abortion Funds and Spiritual Support for Reproductive Justice
The 2022 Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs fundamentally shattered Roe v. Wade, the bedrock of abortion access in the United States. Post-Dobbs, a groundswell of support for abortion justice thrust the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF) into the spotlight like never before. Together, we built a rock-solid platform for every person seeking an abortion, or assisting those who need one, to find the most direct route to support.
A Secure Platform for Abortion Access
NNAF provides vital, life-saving information to abortion seekers, member funds, the press, allies, individual members, and the general public. To support this mission, we envision a redesigned website that could be a secure, multi-lingual, highly performant experience that embodies their spirit of mutual aid. Central to the redesign was building the “find an abortion fund” experience to help abortion seekers clearly understand how to access care that was right for them.
Through our discovery, we aligned on four imperatives: centering the narratives of those most impacted by their work, building a strong editorial system, breaking complex information into steps, and using inclusive language to clarify their role. As part of this effort, we built a searchable and filterable database of NNAF’s 100+ member funds. Each fund’s listing page provides the following features:
- Displays the services it provides.
- Shows key information to help users understand why they would reach out to one fund over another.
- Provides real-time updates as to whether funds are open or closed.
- Gives next steps for reaching out.
Healing Religiously-Based Stigma and Shame
Alongside logistical support, the Religious Community for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) serves as a community of faithful and spiritual people who are committed to the sacred task of dismantling and healing religiously-based abortion stigma and shame. We believe: People of faith protect the freedom to access reproductive care. The practice of blessing abortion clinics is central to the work that RCRC does because it speaks to our core mission.
Interfaith Training and Spiritual Care
RCRC recognizes that experiences like infertility, loss, or abortion can be overwhelming and isolating. To address this, we offer interfaith training for clergy, chaplains, and ministry professionals to provide judgment-free emotional and spiritual support to those in their faith communities at these times. We strive to provide a safe and compassionate space for individuals who may be going through a difficult reproductive crisis. Our goal is to empower you with the tools you need to honor your unique experience, heal from any emotional pain, and find hope and peace on the other side of this crisis.

Furthermore, on academic campuses across the United States, Spiritual Youth for Reproductive Freedom provides multi-faith fellowship for students regardless of faith to integrate their spirituality with their pursuit for reproductive justice. We provide spiritual care pamphlets and resources for patients and their families during the clinical stage of an abortion, training clergy, ministers, and counselors who are fostering conversations about reproductive freedom and justice.
