CHA Partners Complete Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Facility At 105-20 Rockaway Beach Boulevard In Queens
Developer CHA Partners recently celebrated the grand opening of Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Center, a first-of-its kind specialty medical facility in Rockaway Beach, Queens. The facility is located at 105-20 Rockaway Beach Boulevard within the recently completed Rockaway Beach Medical Arts Complex.
Comprehensive Women’s Healthcare Services
The Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Center provides gynecological and obstetrical care, in addition to an array of women’s healthcare sub-specialty services. These specialized services include:
- Fetal medicine
- Urogynecology
- Gynecological oncology
- Breast surgery
- Nutrition
- Behavioral health
To ensure high-quality diagnostics, the facility features state-of-the-art equipment including two 3D mammography machines, a bone density machine, and an ultrasound machine.
Addressing the Need for Local Healthcare
CHA Partners conceived of the Rockaway Beach Medical Arts Complex to meet the demand for local healthcare created when the region’s Peninsula Hospital closed after Hurricane Sandy in 2012. “Since our inception, CHA has remained focused on filling the void for medical and healthcare services where they are needed most, and the opening of the Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Center will mark a new day for patients in the Rockaway Beach region,” said CHA’s managing partner William J. Colgan.
Strategic Funding and Collaboration
New York City Economic Development Corporation helped support the project with $9 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing in collaboration with Chase Community Development Bank. The NMTC program is a federal funding program designed to encourage investment in underserved areas of the city. Andrew Kimball, NYCEDC president and CEO, stated: “NYCEDC is proud to have supported the development of the Rockaway Beach Medical Arts Complex, which will house the Margaret O. Carpenter Women’s Health Center and offer lifesaving, affordable preventative care to Rockaway residents.”
Expansion of the Rockaway Beach Medical Arts Complex
Today, the Rockaway Beach Medical Arts Complex comprises a wide range of healthcare service providers beyond the Women’s Center. The facility hosts specialists in various fields, including:
- Primary care
- Dermatology and endocrinology
- Physical therapy and behavioral health
- Cardiology and neurology
- General surgery and cancer care
The complex was completed in 2019 and reached full occupancy in June 2021, marking an important milestone in Rockaway’s recovery.
