Comprehensive Reproductive Health and Behavioral Healthcare Services
We offer a wide range of services to all people seeking reproductive health care. Well-person visits focus on preventive care, which is the key to health management throughout your life. An annual exam is a good time for your health care provider to screen you for reproductive health problems, discuss your concerns, and provide you with answers to your questions.
Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention
Cervical cancer screening is an important part of women’s health care. A Pap smear screens for cervical cancer by checking for abnormal cells in the cervix that are cancerous or have the potential to become cancerous. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), you should start having screening at age 21, regardless of when you first start having sex. How often you should have cervical cancer screening and which tests you should have depend on your age and health history:
- Women who are 21 to 29: Should have a Pap test alone every 3 years. HPV testing alone can be considered for women who are 25 to 29, but Pap tests are preferred.
- Women who are 30 to 65: Have three options for testing. They can have a Pap test and an HPV test (co-testing) every 5 years. They can have a Pap test alone every 3 years. Or they can have HPV testing alone every 5 years.
STD Testing and Vaginal Health
STDs are infections that are spread from one person to another, usually during vaginal, anal, and oral sex. The CDC estimates that one in five Americans has an STD, and young adults from ages 20 to 34 have the highest rates of infection. Without testing and treatment, STDs can lead to serious health problems. We offer self swab testing for:
- Syphilis
- HIV
- Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C
- Trichomoniasis
While some vaginal infections are caused by sexually transmitted infections, other very common ones are not. Symptoms of either a vaginal infection or vaginitis may include discharge, itching, burning, pain, and odor. We offer self testing and treatment for yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and urinary tract infections.
Birth Control and Sterilization Options
An experienced provider will help you determine a birth control plan that is right for you. We offer a wide range of birth control services including pain-free IUD insertions and no-scalpel vasectomies. The following options are highly effective:
- IUD: An IUD is a T-shaped device that a provider places in your uterus and 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. IUDs can remain in place from 5-12 years (depending on the type of IUD) and can be removed easily if pregnancy is desired prior to then.
- No-scalpel Vasectomy: A no-scalpel vasectomy is a minimally invasive male sterilization procedure that is over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. The procedure takes about 20 minutes to complete, is done in the office and after the use of a local anesthetic, the procedure is pain-free.
Anxiety is real; therefore, we offer minimal to moderate sedation services per request for invasive procedures, including Paps, IUD inserts, and Vasectomies. Depending on the type of sedation, most services require a driver in addition to nothing to eat or drink 6 hours prior to your appointment.
