Furthermore, in the early 1990s, BWH pioneered computerized physician order entry to prevent medication errors. Innovation in Women’s Health
The NEMIC team had the incredible opportunity to participate in two back-to-back events in Boston: the Women’s Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) and MEDevice Boston. At WHIS, the energy was palpable as leaders and innovators came together to discuss advancements in women's health—a sector that continues to gain momentum. These sessions covered everything from digital health to advancements in maternal care and women’s wellness. Seeing Melissa Bowley of Flourish Care recognized for her impact was truly inspiring, as Flourish’s commitment to addressing gaps in maternal health aligns with global healthcare values.
Independent Community Healthcare Services
For the past 30 years, Women's Health Services (WHS) has provided abortion and family planning services to the Greater Boston Community and beyond. WHS has been dedicated to offering high quality, safe and supportive care in an attractive and comfortable environment that also celebrates and supports women’s diverse roles and strengths. WHS is the only non-hospital provider of abortion up to the legal gestational limit in Massachusetts. However, as an independent provider that serves a vulnerable population and receives no government funding, it is devastating to imagine WHS closing its doors. At least two-thirds of the necessary procedures provided break even or operate at a financial loss, as the clinic serves many patients who are uninsured or under-insured.
